JUDGES LIST CRITERIA 2022
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS IN YOUR INTEREST TO NOTIFY US OF ANY UPDATES TO YOUR CV WHICH MAY ENABLE YOU TO MOVE UP OUR LISTS
IMPORTANT INFORMATION : JUDGES CAN ONLY JUDGE AT AN APPOINTMENT CONTAINING NO MORE THAN 3 CLASSES FOR A BREED (4 IF 1 IS A PUPPY CLASS) IF THEY MEET JEP ‘LEVEL 1’ REQUIREMENTS.
TO JUDGE AN UNLIMITED NUMBER OF CLASSES OF A BREED, A JUDGE MUST BE LISTED ON A BREED CLUB/COUNCIL ‘B’ LIST OR ABOVE OR LISTED AT JEP ‘LEVEL 2’ OR ABOVE FOR THE RESPECTIVE BREED.
Judges lists are compiled at a meeting of a Sub-Committee of four representatives of this Breed Club, all have previously awarded Challenge Certificates in the breed and, have been delegated the authority to compile these lists by the Breed Club Committee.
Applications for any of these lists must be submitted on the form which can be downloaded
from the Club website and sent to the Secretary.

A1 List
For judges who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have completed their first appointment and, have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain.
A2 List
For those who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 list and have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and, have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain.
A3 List Breed Specialists:
PLEASE NOTE: THE KC NOW REQUIRE THAT GUNDOG JUDGES, BEFORE AWARDING CHALLENGE CERTIFICATES FOR THE FIRST TIME, MUST HAVE ATTENDED AN OPEN WORKING GUNDOG TRIAL.

To have a minimum of 7yrs judging experience in the breed and have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of GB.
-
To have judged at one breed club open show or, one championship show without CC’s.
-
To have judged the breed at 8 open shows or championship shows without CC’s with an adequate geographical spread.
-
To have judged a minimum of 40 dogs (actually being present and not including absentees).
-
To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances).

To have attended seminars given by a KC Accredited Trainer as follows:
a) KC Regulations and Judging Procedures and passed the relevant exam.
b) Conformation and Movement, also a Points of the Dog Assessment and passed the assessment.
c) At least one breed specific seminar on the breed run in accordance with the KC Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
A3 List Non Breed Specialists:

To have a minimum of 7yrs experience in any one breed (to include 5yrs in this breed) and have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of GB.

To have judged one breed club open show or championship show without CC’s.

To have judged a minimum of 40 dogs in this breed (actually being present and not including absentees).
-
To have awarded CC’s in at least one other Gundog breed or two breeds outside the Gundog group.
-
To have attended at least one breed specific seminar on this breed run in accordance with the relevant KC Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
B List Breed Specialists:
-
To have 3yrs experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of GB.

To have a minimum of 3yrs judging experience.

To have judged a minimum of 25 dogs (actually being present and not including absentees).

To have attended at least one breed specific seminar on the breed run in accordance with the KC Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

To have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and, passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.
B List Non Breed Specialists:

To have a minimum of 5yrs judging experience and have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of GB.

To have judged a minimum of 25 dogs in this breed (actually being present and not including absentees).

To have attended at least one breed specific seminar on this breed run in accordance with the relevant KC Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

To have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and, passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.
C List Breed Specialist & Non Breed Specialists:
-
For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in this breed and have the support of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of GB.

To have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer and, passed the relevant examination on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures.
-
To have attended a seminar given by a KC Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
-
To have stewarded at a minimum of 2 shows.
